NWC Services

The Nelson Women's Centre is a resource and support centre for all women and children in the Nelson Tasman region.

We offer services such as social worker support, advocacy, information on women's rights, a library, op shop, and a programme of workshops.

You do not have to be in any sort of crisis to visit us or use our services.

Social workers and counsellors

We are one of the few places in Nelson where women can access very low cost counselling with our team of Counsellors.

Our social workers can help with advocacy, information, support with other organisations, and advice. They will also be your first port of call to get you set up with one of our counsellors.

Contact one of our social workers on 03 546 8441 or email nws@nelsonwomenscentre.org.nz

Drop-In Space

Come in for a cuppa (watch out for soup days in fall or winter). We have a welcoming kitchen/lounge area, a cozy log burner in the winter, and a sunny deck out the back. Come meet other women or enjoy a safe quiet space on your own. Kai rescue provides us with fresh fruit, veggies and other pantry staples (Mondays and Wednesdays) which anyone is welcome to access.

Op Shop

We have an Op Shop. Come find (or donate) women's and children's clothes and small household goods. All proceeds from the Op Shop go right back into the operation of the Nelson Women's Centre.

Workshops

We offer quality Art and Discovery workshops for all women. Please check the WORKSHOPS & COURSES tab to download our latest offerings for the term.

Women's Library and Book Club

We have books and magazines in the lounge. Come have a browse, sign out books for a month, bring them back when you're done.

Our Book Club meets monthly at the Centre. Check out NEWS & EVENTS for the latest schedule.
